Colour of the year

Colour Switch

Pantone have announced their 'colour of the year' 2010 and we are delighted that they have chosen our corporate colour of turquoise.

According to Pantone "It is believed to be a protective talisman, a colour of deep compassion and healing, and a colour of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky."

Sounds like one of our debriefs.

Long Tails

The length of advertising memories has always surprised us. It bears out the dictum that advertisers overestimate the effect of advertising in the short term but underestimate it in the long run. It is still the case that older participants remember the campaigns of their youth but recently everybody's list has been getting more eclectic thanks to Channel 4 'Best ads' compilations and YouTube. Twenty somethings now talk with familiarity about Smash Martians or Nick Kamen's boxer shorts.

Recessions make you happy?

This week the UK technically left recession.

We haven't noticed research participants jumping for joy.

When the gloom does finally lift we might find it has made people happier, simple staycation holidays and a period of living frugally can be good for the soul. An interesting article suggests this is the case in America. But things are still gloomy especially in youth groups. There's a theory that this experience might make this a cautious cohort so that in 10 years time when advertisers are trying to get them to splash out on cars and mortgages they'll still be squirreling cash under the IKEA mattress.
