Peter's career started in advertising at Ted Bates in London, moving to Yellowhammer in 1986 and Bartle Bogle Hegarty in 1990, where he was Account Director on NatWest, IBM and Van den Berghs.
In 1993 Peter moved into qualitative advertising research at Davies Riley-Smith Maclay, where he became Managing Director in 1996.
Peter left DRSM in 2000 to start The Way Forward, and was soon joined by Lucy Banister. They teamed up with Chris Forrest in 2001 to launch The Nursery.
Peter is a regular contributor to industry publications on research and planning in the UK and Europe, has spoken at and organised conferences for the Market Research Society, the Association for Qualitative Research and the Account Planning Group, both in the UK and the US. He tutors on group moderating courses for the APG and AQR. He was vice-chair of the APG from 1999-2001, and has contributed a chapter to the APG book 'Brand New Thinking'.
